The automatic proxy result cache is a performance enhancement that Microsoft has added to Internet Explorer 5.5 and above. The purpose of this cache is to reduce client-side processing of the automatic proxy configuration script. When you connect to a website, the function FindProxyForURL is used to determine whether a proxy should be used and which proxy should be used. So this process makes the browser a bit delayed and not worth it until you visit proxy sites.

On the other hand, if the currently cached proxy is not available in future attempts to establish a connection, you may receive The page cannot be displayed errors.

Now let’s see what would happen if we disabled this function. If you disable Automatic proxy caching, the browser follows client-side processing, which can speed page loading into the browser. This change therefore affects browser performance, depending on the logic of the automatic configuration script used and its size. Here are the simple registration steps you can follow to get there:

Disable or enable proxy auto caching in Internet Explorer

1 Press the Windows key + R combination, type regedit into the Run dialog box and press Enter to open the registry editor.

4 In the above windows, enter the value data as 0 to disable Auto Caching. Click OK. If you want to enable the automatic caching proxy (16) (16) again, simply delete the DWORD we created in the previous step to restore the default behavior.
