1] Clean boot state troubleshooting

A clean boot is used to diagnose problems with your system and resolve them later. During a clean boot, we boot the system with a minimum number of drivers and boot programs, which allows the cause to be isolated using disruptive software.

Once you have started in the clean boot state, activate one process after another and see which process is causing the problem. That way, you can find the culprit.

2] Update your device drivers

If a hardware problem occurs, we should update the device drivers. Open the Device Manager and update the keyboard driver.

If this does not work, you can download and reinstall the drivers directly from the manufacturer’s website.

3] Install driver in compatibility mode

If existing drivers are still not compatible after an update, you can download them from the manufacturer’s site and install them in compatibility mode and see if it works. Here’s how to do it.

  1. Right-click the driver configuration file, go to Properties and select the Compatibility tab.
  2. Activate option Start this program in compatibility mode.
  3. Select an earlier version supported by the software.
  4. Click Apply followed by OK.
  5. Install the driver as required.
  6. Wait until installation is complete and restart the unit.

If the cause of the problem is due to outdated or incompatible drivers, this method will certainly solve the problem. You can visit the manufacturer’s website and download the latest numeric keyboard drivers. However, drivers may not be the problem at all. The next method is to do it.

4] Turn off the mouse button

Try this and see if it helps :

  1. Go to Control panel from Start Menu.
  2. Navigate to Ease of Access Center.
  3. Go to Make keyboard easier to use .
  4. Navigate to Control mouse with keyboard and uncheck option Activate mouse buttons.
  5. Click Apply, then click OK.

In principle, this could be a simple attitude problem that would be solved at this stage if it were true. You should be ready to go.

5] Registry editor method

There is another option you can use, although the mouse button method should work. If you want to use an elaborate method or if you need another solution, then it is. Remember, since you are making changes in the Windows registry, it is advisable to create a system restore point just in case something goes wrong. After you have done so, follow these steps.

Run regedit to open the Registry editor.

Navigate to the next button :

HKEY_CURRENT_USERKeyboard

Find record string InitialKeyboardIndicators. These are located on the right side of the record key on the keyboard. Double-click on it and set the value data to’2‘, click on OK.

Now navigate to this key :

HKEY_USERS.DEFAULTControl PanelKeyboard

Define a record string in the name InitialKeybaordIndicators and set the value to 2147483648.

Click OK and close the Registry Editor.

Restart the unit.

We have worked on all possible solutions at the software level, and if the problem persists, we can assume that this is the hardware for which a technician should be consulted.
