We have already seen 10 different ways to stop or restart Windows 8. One of them is the combination Alt+F4 to open the dialog box to close Windows. However, this is not as convenient as if you have many programs open on your computer, it takes time. In such cases, Alt+F4 first closes each program individually and we receive the following message after ensuring that each program is closed.

In this article, I will show you the simple way to immediately exit the prompt by creating a shortcut to open the Windows Shutdown dialog box – and optionally adding the’Pinning’ option to the taskbar.

1 Open Notepad and enter the following string :

(new ActiveXObject(shell.application))))).shutdownWindows();

2 Save this file under any name, but specify format .js as required, for example Shutdown.js and select All files as storage type. Save it anywhere, but create a shortcut to Desktop.

3 Right-click the taskbar and go to Toolbars -> New Toolbar.

4 In the New Toolbar – Select Folder, enter the following location for folders:

%User Profile%AppDataRoamingMicrosoftInternet ExplorerQuick Start

Then click Select Folder and Quick Start is added to the Windows 8 taskbar .

5 Now go to Desktop and drag and drop the shortcut created in step 1 into Quick Launch Toolbar until Link appears in the popup window. A shortcut is created in the Quick Start menu (16).

6. That’s it. Now the stop shortcut in the Quickstart menu (16) is added as a shortcut itself. At this point, you can delete the Desktop shortcut (16) used in the previous step. You can simply rename it with right click -> rename.

If you need to bring power options, simply click Quick Start and select Off to get the menu Alt+F4. If you click anywhere on the screen except this stop prompt, it simply disappears.

Although it runs on Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP and earlier, Windows 8 users may find it more useful to use, as they now have another way to turn off their computer from the notification area, other than using HotShut.
