By default, the Windows settings bar displays a total of five wallpapers when you open the Customize > Background window. It contains four wallpapers used so far and the current wallpaper. Each time you change the background image, the last image in the list is deleted. Now, if you want to restore all the default background images at this point to quickly change the desktop background, here’s a simple trick.
You must use the Windows registry editor. Before using it, make sure you have created a registry backup or system restore point. If you have a problem, you can always restore it.
Open the registry editor. Press Win + I, type regedit and press Enter. Alternatively, search regedit in the taskbar search box and click on the result.
After opening the registry editor, navigate to the path
HKEY_CURRENT_USERsoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerWallpaper
After opening the wallpaper, you will find four different values named BackgroundHistoryPath1 on the right side, BackgroundHistoryPath2, BackgroundHistoryPath3 and BackgroundHistoryPath4. These are the four wallpapers used so far.
You must right-click them and delete them individually.
Suppose you want to delete background images 1stst and 4thsup>. In this case, delete BackgroundHistoryPath1 and BackgroundHistoryPath4
If you delete an existing background image, it will be replaced by the default Windows 10 background image.
