Microsoft has included an option in the Settings for Windows 10 application that allows applications on your PC to use your Trusted Devices. In this context, any device that you frequently connect to your system can be identified as a trusted device. This can be any hardware that connects to your Windows 10 PC or comes with your PC, tablet or phone. Any external storage device such as Pen Drive, SSD, etc., Xbox game console, TV or projector that you have connected to your PC can be considered a trusted device.

You can use a privacy setting built into Windows 10 to control the applications that connected devices use and communicate with. To configure this privacy setting, do the following:

1 Start the Settings application by pressing Windows + I.

3 Scroll down the left pane of the privacy settings and click Other Devices.

4 On the right side of the window, you will now see a section entitled Use trusted devices, as shown in the image above.

5 This section displays the list of devices connected to your PC. In my case, it’s just one.

6 If you want your PC applications to use these devices, turn the switch with the name Let applications mean to the On position. Here, the device name is the name of your device, which you normally use to connect to your PC.

7 You can also configure the applications that these devices can use. To do this, activate the Toggle in front of the desired applications.

In this way, you can configure your Trusted Device to be used by applications on your Windows 10 PC.
