Add stop and restart options to the WinX Power User menu in Windows 10/8

  1. Download and install the repair tool here.

dowsSystem32 directory. Right-click Shutdown.exe and click Create Shortcut.

Windows prompts you to place the shortcut on the desktop, say Yes.

Now right-click the shortcut from the desktop and select Properties to open the Properties window. Change the destination by adding ‘/s /t 0 ‘ at the end as shown. Rename the shortcut to Shutdown.

We have indeed modified the parameters according to the different options of the stop command. You can display them at the command prompt by choosing Shutdown /?

We now have both shortcuts ready – for shutdown and restart. These links have the.lnk file extension. We will now use the Hashlnk tool to approve these shortcuts. Move these shortcuts to the folder with the uncompressed Hashlnk tool.

Now press the Shift key on the folder and right click on that folder to get the’Open command window here’ option to get the command prompt in that folder.

Type now the command hashlnk shortcutname.lnk (Replace shortcutname with the shortcut name, here we have Shutdown.lnk and Restart.lnk). If all goes well, see the message as follows

Move these shortcuts to %LOCALAPPDATA%MicrosoftWindowsWinX after creating a new folder group 4. So you now have a new folder group 4 with groups 1, 2 and 3. Group 4 contains our links created and released for shutdown and restart.

If you now see the WinX menu, these new shortcuts will not appear. You must restart your PC to view them. After restarting, you will see the contents of our created Group 4 and its shortcuts – Shutdown and Restart (Tip: Instead of restarting your PC, you can open the Task Manager, right-click the Windows Explorer process and click Restart).

You will now And now you can restart Windows 8 with these shortcuts in the Power User menu.

And so you can add more options to WinX Power User menu. You can also add your frequently used App shortcuts this way.

Try creating your shortcuts in the Win+X Power user menu manually or using the free software. As already mentioned, be careful and create a system restore point before starting optimization.
