You can customize the Bing News application to meet your needs. Customize it to display only the categories, topics or information sources that matter to you. The news application now also supports offline playback. Another feature of the news application is that you can add RSS feeds to your favorite blogs as a custom source. And that’s what this is about.

With the recent announcement of the closure of Google Reader in the coming months, many are interested in alternatives to Google Reader. Now we want to see how to add RSS feeds to the news application and turn them into RSS feed readers.

First update your news application to the latest version if you have not already done so. When you open the news application, you will see the’Start’ panel in the new version.

Click on ‘Add source’ or scroll a little to the right and click on’+’ under ‘Sources’.

And this opens the’Add Source Tile’ screen.

Here you can add the embedded sources already listed by clicking on the’+’ sign or by inserting any URL of the RSS feed. After inserting the URL of the RSS feed, press Enter. And this stream is displayed in a tile with a’+’ sign.

Click the’+’ sign to add the RSS feed tile and the’Add’ icon will appear.

Add RSS feeds as needed.

Also note a point, make sure you are in’Add a source tile’ to add an RSS feed, otherwise there is also the’Browse our sources’ option with which you can browse but not add the feed. After adding the RSS feed, it looks like this.

Also note that some streams show images and others do not. RSS feeds are displayed cleanly, clearly and concisely and synchronized via your Microsoft account on multiple Windows 8 or Windows RT devices. In the future, we might also see synchronization via Windows 8 Phone. Hope Bing News will offer an aggregation feature in the future.

To delete the RSS feed you added, click the icon in the list of sources and delete those you do not need.

You can also pin each stream to the Windows 8 start screen. Simply right-click on the feed and you will get the’Pin to Start’ option. You can also change the name here.

I hope you will try all these options and share your suggestions for further improvements with Microsoft.
