Using SFC Scan
SFC stands for System File Checker.
SFC is a DOS command that is usually used in conjunction with the SCANNOW switch, which is separated by a / sign. SFC /SCANNOW is used to automatically detect and correct corrupted or missing files in Windows 10.
To use the SFC command from Windows, an additional prompt must be opened. If a Windows 10 computer does not boot and you want to run the command externally, you must boot the computer with Windows 10 boot media and open the command prompt from there.
On the context menu, click Command Prompt (Admin).
In the User Account Control confirmation box, click Yes to confirm your action.
Wait until the administrator: The command prompt opens. Note: This is the advanced command prompt where you can execute all commands without restrictions.
At the administrator prompt: type SFC /SCANNOW and press Enter.
Resetting Factory Settings on a Windows 10 Computer
Under Windows 10, the process is simple enough thanks to an integrated tool to reset a PC. Open the Start menu and select Settings (speed). Now enter ‘reset’ in the search bar and select ‘Reset this PC’ on the left when the results are displayed.
