Is the problem a known bug in Windows 10? We cannot know exactly why. Why didn’t the same problem occur on computers when people were using Windows 7? Some people report the problem only after upgrading to Windows 10.
In this guide, we have described a step-by-step procedure for solving this problem after having studied and implemented the methods discussed by others and our own experiences. Many forums also mention methods such as disabling superfetch, prefetch and BITS services, but we do not recommend it. I mean, what can you really turn off to solve a problem?!
If you are faced with such a problem, here are some troubleshooting steps that can help you solve the problem. First create a system restore point, then browse the entire list and decide which of the suggestions you want to try.
1] Use the Control Panel to uninstall all browsers except Edge and Internet Explorer, of course. It’s about isolating the problem with plugins. The other suggestion is to delete and test the plugins individually from each browser. Adobe Flash and Shockwave Player are the usual culprits. However, since browsers can be reinstalled in seconds, this option seems easier. After uninstalling the browsers, please delete the’Temp’,’%Temp%’ and’Prefetch’ files. Reboot the system and see if it solves the problem. If this is the case, wait 10-15 minutes to make sure it will not happen again. Then reinstall the browsers.
2] Run ChkDsk and see if it helps. Open a raised PDC window, type the following command and press Enter :
chkdsk.exe /f /r
The ChkDsk parameters do the following work :
- /f Correction of detected errors.
- /r Identifies bad sectors and attempts to recover information.
Open Windows Defender and disable cloud-based protection.
4] The Windows search indexer is a known process to cause this. If you are not using Windows Search, you can disable the Windows Search Indexer.
5] If this does not solve the problem, start services.msc and disable the’Print Spooler’. Your printer will no longer work. But at least it helps isolate the problem. Disabling the print spooler has worked for many users.
Once the Service Manager is open, scroll down to’Print Spooler’ and click the option to stop the service. If it works, you can decide if your job really needs a printer. If you need service, a repair at the technician level is necessary.
6] Adjust the visual effects in Windows. This article shows you how to optimize visual effects to optimize Windows performance.
7] Sometimes device drivers may be responsible. To update your drivers and see if it helps you. You can use Windows Update, download it from the manufacturer’s website or use free driver update software.
8] Run System File Checker and DISM to repair the system image.
9] Open a high command prompt, type the following and press Enter to perform the performance troubleshooting.
msdt.exe /id PerformanceDiagnostic
