In this article, I will get into the basics of these things in Windows 10 and offer you extensive tutorials to read.
Customizing Windows 10
Customizing settings for Windows 10 are available in Settings > Customizing. It has 5 specific settings, including background, colors, lock screen, themes, Start and taskbar.
Set your favorite wallpaper
November 2024 Update:
You can now prevent PC problems by using this tool, such as protecting you against file loss and malware. Additionally, it is a great way to optimize your computer for maximum performance. The program fixes common errors that might occur on Windows systems with ease - no need for hours of troubleshooting when you have the perfect solution at your fingertips:
- Step 1 : Download PC Repair & Optimizer Tool (Windows 10, 8, 7, XP, Vista – Microsoft Gold Certified).
- Step 2 : Click “Start Scan” to find Windows registry issues that could be causing PC problems.
- Step 3 : Click “Repair All” to fix all issues.
This is the first thing you will change once you connect to your PC. We all love having our favorite wallpapers, and Windows 10 has a lot of features. So here’s how to change it
-
- Choose Background. Here you can see an overview of what the current wallpaper or the wallpaper you have created will look like.
- Here you have three options using the drop-down menu.
- Image : Select an image you want to use. You can then place it on the screen immediately after installation and cover it with tiles.
- Solid color: You can choose a color selection shape if you simply like it.
- Slideshow : This option allows you to select more than one image of your choice and change it every few seconds.
If you now use multiple monitors, you can enlarge them or use separate background images. For more information, click here.
Choose the color accent of your choice
If you look closely, there is a little color throughout the Windows experience. The default setting is blue. If you want to change it, use the Colors section. Here you can select from the standard colours available or use the colour selector . Color is used everywhere, including Start, Taskbar, Action Center, and so on.
What I really like is the ability to change the accent color according to the background image . Every time the background image changes, I get a new accent color and it keeps the look fresh.
This setting allows you to have granular controls. You can skip the accent color display for Start, Taskbar, Action Center and title bars . I would also suggest leaving the transparency effects. Windows 10 now comes with Fluent Design, and they are fantastic. Finally, you can choose between Dark and Light Theme for your applications
Adjust the lock screen
Similar to desktop backgrounds, you can adjust the screen to display images and slideshows. But what you really like about Lock Screen is the integration of Windows Spotlight, App Notification and Cortana.
For those who don’t know, Windows Spotlight is a wallpaper lock option that displays different background images and occasionally offers suggestions on the lock screen. I suggest you read about Windows Spotlight, try this Windows Spotlight tool that stores it as a wallpaper on your PC – but let’s talk about Cortana integration.
Professional tip:
- When using the slide show on LockScreen, you can select this option to view images from your OneDrive camera role folders. Make sure you have all the photos on your PC
- The lock screen displays annoying advertisements. But you can disable the displays on the lock screen.
Cortana integration on the lock screen
Below the lock screen. Settings, link search Cortana Lock screen settings. Open it and it will guide you to the Cortana settings. Under Lock Screen, you can use Cortana when the device is locked . Check the box next to Allow Cortana to access my calendar, email, messages and other content data when my device is locked, if you want Cortana to use your information when your screen is locked.
- You must set up a microphone if it is a desktop PC for you. It also works with a webcam microphone.
- If this does not work perfectly for you, try changing the language.
Application notifications on the lock screen
This is not new, but I recommend you use it daily. Just as you get notifications and an overview of applications on your phone, you can select applications to display similar notifications on the lock screen so you don’t miss what’s important to you.
Here you can select up to seven applications to view notifications with your calendar. So, if you are working on two different machines, a glance at this machine will give you a clear idea that you are not missing anything important.
Apply, customize a Windows 10 theme
We wrote detailed information on how to save and use Windows 10 themes, including custom themes. I suggest you read this tutorial, but I would like to tell you more about it.
You can now download topics directly from the Microsoft Store. Instead of going to a website and downloading it, it is much safer and keeps them up to date. The link to download the topics is directly available in the thematic areas of customization.
However, there are two other issues to discuss. Start menu and taskbar. Both play a crucial role in daily use, and we will discuss them in detail in our next article.
