It appears that you do not have any applicable device(s) associated with your Microsoft account – the error is fairly easy to explain.

You don’t appear to have a registered Xbox device when you try to install a game purchased from the Microsoft Store. It would be nice if some people don’t have an Xbox registered to the same Microsoft account. And that’s where the problem comes in.

Check your Microsoft account

  • Press the Windows + I key to open the Settings application.
  • When the Settings application is open, go to the Accounts menu.
  • Now select Mail and Application Accounts on the left side of the Accounts window.
  • Check your email accounts to see if you are logged in to the corresponding email account.

Check your Device Limit

If the error “it appears that you do not have any applicable devices associated with your Microsoft account” still exists, you can try to check your device limit. The steps are as follows:

Log in to account.microsoft.com/devices and select Manage Device Limits.
If there are more than 10 devices in the list, you will need to remove one.
Now check whether the application or game is compatible with the device.

Reset your Microsoft Store

If both of the above methods do not work, you may need to reset your Microsoft Store. Keep in mind that this solution allows the Microsoft Store to start from scratch. Your Windows Store account credentials, such as your Microsoft account, will be removed. So make sure you remember it. You can then follow the instructions :

  • Right-click on the Start menu in the lower left-hand corner and select “Applications and Features”.
  • In the pop-up window, type “Microsoft store” in the search box. Then double-click on the advanced options under the Microsoft store.
  • In the new window, navigate to the Reset option and click it. You will then see a confirmation button, just click Reset and close the window.

You can then restart your computer to check if the error “it appears you do not have any applicable devices” is resolved.

Check to see if the application is compatible with your version of Windows 10.

This is the most likely reason for the error. If your PC does not meet the minimum system requirements for the application, you will receive the error. This means that some applications only support certain versions of Windows 10. For example, the Windows File Recovery application requires version 2004 or later. On the application page, click the “System Requirements” tab to view the requirements.

In my case, the application required Windows 10 version 2004 or later, but I was running in 1909. Updating my Windows 10 installation to the latest version solved my problem.

Upgrade your device to the latest version

Based on past experience, some users have concluded that this problem generally occurs with obsolete systems. You need to go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices and then log in with your Microsoft account. You can then see the devices associated with your Microsoft account. If you see the device that has this problem, it may appear “outdated”, which is the root cause.
