The iTunes 0xE8000065 error usually occurs when trying to connect an iOS device to iTunes. The error message that usually appears on the phone is “iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000065)”. This is usually due to a communication problem between your device and your computer. One of the best ways to solve this problem is to use another USB cable to connect your device to your computer. If this does not solve the problem, continue with the additional troubleshooting steps below.
Restart your computer and iPhone.
If the device works too long, errors are still possible. After rebooting, many errors will have disappeared, so you should do this first. To restart your mobile device, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button. After one or two seconds, the cursor will appear. Simply pull it out and restart your phone. When the computer and iPhone are turned on again, try connecting the phone to the computer.
Use Task Manager to stop certain Apple services:
- Start Task Manager
- Click the Process tab of the Task Manager. Complete each of these three processes by clicking on their names and selecting “Complete Process”:
- iTunesHelper.exe
- AppleMobileDeviceService.exe
- iPodService.exe
Once these processes are complete, restart your computer, open iTunes, and test.

Update your Windows operating system
Older versions of Microsoft Windows may be the favourites of some users, but the truth is that they are often not supported by Microsoft. For example, the legendary Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft. Any system running Windows XP could be affected by security bugs, and Microsoft assumes no responsibility for this. A few years later, Windows 7 will also be backdated. It is therefore advisable to keep up to date with the latest version of the Windows operating system. If you have an older version of Windows on your PC, upgrade to the latest version.
Update iTunes
It is important that your iTunes software is up to date. Always check for a new version of iTunes software before restoring or updating your iPhone. If it is, pick it up and install it.
Update your security software
An anti-malware program on the PC or iPhone may cause the error 0xE8000065. Although this is very unlikely, updating the security software installed on your computer system cannot do any harm. Visit the security company’s website if you cannot find out where the updates are.
Replacing your Charging Cable
According to some concerned users, this problem may also be caused by a faulty micro-USB cable. If the cable is old, corroded or non-compliant, you can expect several synchronization problems, including the error “iTunes could not connect to this iPhone/iPad due to an unknown error (0xE8000065)”.
If you see signs of a faulty cable, you may need to replace it to resolve the problem.
