The error code 0xc0000017 appears after a reinstallation or failed update that ends with a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). It is accompanied by the error message “There isn’t enough memory to create a ramdisk device.” This error code sends to STATUS_NO_MEMORY and indicates that there are not enough virtual memory quotas or swap files for the specified locations.
The error code 0xc0000017 is usually associated with bad memory sections embedded in Windows boot configuration data that block the use of RAM as the data cache.
Stopping the antivirus suite
If you experience this problem when trying to upgrade your version from Windows to Windows 10, you should start this troubleshooting task by eliminating the possibility of third-party interference. It turns out that an overprotective antivirus suite can stop the update process due to a false alarm.
Comodo, Avast, McAffee are most often reported for the cause of this behaviour, but there may be others. If this scenario applies and you are actually using a third-party suite that could cause this malfunction, you must test whether the process is successful if you do so while the antivirus suite is disabled or uninstalled.
