Windows 10 collects a history of what you have done, including the files you have opened and the web pages you have viewed in Edge. You can disable this function and delete activities from the Task view. The Timeline has been added with the April 2018 update of Windows 10. It can synchronize your activities between your PCs, but you must enable the synchronization function. By default, Windows stores your activity history on your own PC.

The Windows 10 Timeline helps you access activities you have edited in the past, but if the function does not suit you, you can disable it.

You can access the Timeline experience in at least two different ways. You can click on the New Task View button in the taskbar or use the Windows shortcut + tab.

To disable synchronization of activities on the Timeline:

Using Settings

To disable the timeline, you must disable the activity history on Windows 10.

Microsoft has made it clear here that the information displayed on this page is the most important personal information it stores with your MS account to improve your experience with products and services. So if you use the Timeline and have multiple PCs, it’s actually a great experience.

Use of the Registry

registry editor - Another installation is in progress in Windows 10

1: Press Windows + R, type regedit and press Enter.

2: Navigate or type in the address bar:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System

3: If you find a key named “PublishUserActivities”, double-click it and change the value to 0 (hexadecimal).

If you do not see this key, simply create it by right-clicking on an empty area in this window and selecting New > MOT (32 bits).

CONCLUSION

The timeline function of the Windows 10 April 2018 update or later may be useful for some users. However, at the moment, it is rather naked, and there is a lack of detailed controls on what is stored in the timeline and what is not. Moreover, developer support is not the best. Before finishing this tutorial, tell us why you have disabled the Timeline on Windows 10. Comment below and let us discuss it.
