Most people often download many files to their computers, but forget to delete unnecessary files. Windows 10 v1709 now introduces a feature that allows you to automatically delete files from the Downloads & Recycle Bin folder after 30 days.

If you use a file every day or even every week, it is wise to save it in your download folder. However, many PC users often download files, but forget it after a few days. The same applies to garbage. Although we delete files from the desktop or other drives, but often forget to remove them from the recycle bin.

To eliminate potentially minor storage problems, Microsoft used to include a feature called Storage Sense.

When you download the Windows 10 update Fall Creators Update v 1709, you can get more features in addition to Storage Sense. You can now automatically delete files from the recycle bin and download folder after 30 days.

Delete files from the Downloads and Trash folder after 30 days

This function is included in the Windows settings. Open it with Win+I and go to System > Storage. On the right side, you will find an option called Storage Sense. When this function is disabled, turn the button on.

At the same place, you will see another option called Change how we free space. Click on it to configure it. On the next page, you see three options –

    • Delete temporary files that my applications do not use
    • Delete files that have been in the Recycle Bin for more than 30 days
    • Delete files that have been in the Recycle Bin for more than 30 days
    • Delete temporary files that my applications do not use
    • Delete files that have been in the Recycle Bin for more than 30 days
    • Delete files that have been in the Recycle Bin for more than 30 days

files in the Downloads folder that have not changed for 30 days

You must check the options 2ndnd/sup> and 3rd>rd>/sup>rd>sup>. You can also use all three if you want to delete all temporary files that your applications used before but no longer use.

Don’t forget to keep the useful files in the download folder, as they will be automatically deleted after 30 days.
