Microsoft Office Preview for Android available now

Last week Microsoft has released build 10080 for the Windows 10 mobile which enable the Windows Insiders to try the touch optimized Office apps Word, Excel and Powerpoint universal apps on their Windows phones. As the Microsoft Office is most used productivity suite across the world, so Microsoft is not letting any platform to stay in dark. This week the company has made the Microsoft Office apps public preview available to the Android users in the new preview program.

Regarding this Microsoft has said that, these apps available in Public Preview will now replace the Office Mobile apps which are currently available for the Android users. In the below shown screenshots you can find lot of similarities between Android and Windows 10 Mobile versions of these Office apps.



PowerPoint- Android

Microsoft also said that the Office Apps available for Android currently will remain in the app store while the new Office apps are in preview. Other details will be revealed later this year when they are available in commercial version. The preview version of the Office apps bring together what Microsoft calls familiar and consistent Office experience and provides you the ability to be more productive wherever you are with quick access to your files in different cloud services.

Latest Office preview apps also comes with the ability to collaborate with your team and you can simply mail a hyperlink of the document which you are working on. So, how to join the Office preview for Android program?

  • First join in Office for Android community.
  • After joining the community, you can become a tester for Office apps by clicking on follow links Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Wait for sometime (which may take up to 4 hours) for Google Play to replicate the permissions, then click on the above links and follow them to install the apps from Google Play Store.
