Microsoft Office for Android devices is here

Microsoft has yesterday announced the general availability of the latest Word, Excel, PowerPoint apps for the Android platform. These newly released apps will join the previously released Office apps for Android tablets to make the Office experience available to millions of the Android users across the globe. Few weeks ago, Microsoft has announced Office for Android Phone preview. Microsoft has thanked the preview users and said that preview users helped them to test the apps on more than 1900 various Android models in over 83 countries.

With the suggestions and feedback from the preview users, Microsoft able to incorporate lot of preview users feedback into the Office apps they launched yesterday. In the new apps, Microsoft has made it easier to connect to other popular third party storage services like Box, Google Drive and more and few adjustments were made to make it easier to navigate commands within the apps.

  • On the go reviews and edits: If you want to squeeze quick reviews very often in between meetings during the day, you can review the documents in full fidelity, read comments and easily add your own comments.
  • Presenting from my phone: You can now carry your phone to the meeting to present wirelessly. PowerPoint app for Android offers the same transitions, animations and design like of the desktop apps. Use inking to highlight the key points while processing.
  • Quick access to your documents: You can quickly find your document on which you are working in Office from your Phone. You can also see where you are last working. If you are using OneDrive as your cloud storage solution, you can also access the documents that are stored in Dropbox, Box or Google Drive with the support of third party cloud storage providers.
  • Easy to get: Microsoft has partnered with more than 30 global, regional and local OEMs like Sony, Samsung, LG and others, to pre-load the Office apps on the Android devices. Many of those devices are expected to available in the stores later this year.
