How to sync Internet Explorer favorites with OneDrive in Windows 8.1

With the Windows 8.1 update, Microsoft has introduced OneDrive option to display inside the File Explorer. Here we are going to share an important tip for how to sync the Internet Explorer favorites with the OneDrive in Windows 8.1 operating system.

If you are using Internet Explorer as the default browser, then this tip is very helpful to you. Syncing the favorites between the Internet Explorer and OneDrive is bit complicated, but this write-out makes it very simple.

How to sync Internet Explorer favorites with OneDrive in Windows 8.1

  • Press Win+R keys to launch RUN dialog box and type regedit and press enter to open Registry Editor.
  • In the left side pane, navigate to the below path
    HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerUser Shell Folders

Move-IE-Favorites-OneDrive

  • Now in the right pane, find expandable registry string Favorites and this will be having %USERPROFILE%Favorites as the default value data. Double click on it to modify the value data.

Move-IE-Favorites-OneDrive-Edit-String

  • This will popup Edit String window and in this change the value data to %USERPROFILE%OneDriveFavorites and if you are using Windows 8.1 version, otherwise change it to %USERPROFILE%SkyDriveFavorites if you are using Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 RTM.

Finally, click on OK and once you are done, close the Registry Editor and restart your computer for the changes to take place.
