How to rename computer from PC settings in Windows 8.1

If you are advanced Windows user, then you may be familiar with how to change your computer name in Windows through the control panel. You need to open control panel and then click on System option and in the system windows click on Advanced system settings option from the left side. This will open the System properties window click on computer name tab and here you need to add the computer description and can rename your computer and workgroup.

  • Hover your mouse to the right bottom corner and this will open Charms bar and from the options click on Settings and then click on PC Settings.
  • From the PC Settings window click on PC and Devices option and then click on PC info.
  • Here you will get the option Rename PC, click on it and this will open a box with a title Rename your PC and with a textbox. Enter the name which ever you would like to give to your PC and click on Next to proceed further.


That’s it, now restart your computer and on the restart you will find your Windows PC has got the new name which you set. Windows 8.1 has loaded with lot of new features, one of it is, apart from renaming your computer and changing the product key, it now let you to Join a Domain and Change the domain membership.
