How to pin files and folders to taskbar in Windows

If you want to pin the user files and folders onto Windows taskbar for quicker access, then dragging and dropping them onto the Windows taskbar is one method, but if you do like this they will merge with the Explorer icon and do not appear individually. If you access some specific files and folders frequently, then pinning them to the taskbar is the best option to open them quickly. Let us see here how to do that in Windows 7 or 8.

How to pin files and folders to taskbar in Windows

  • First right click on the empty space on desktop and from the option click on New > Shortcut.
  • This will open a create shortcut window with a textbox, here copy and paste the following text and click on Next button.
    %SystemRoot%explorer.exe shell:UsersFilesFolder


  • Give a new name to the shortcut and then click on Finish.
  • Right click on it and select properties to go to properties box and click on change icon option and give it a suitable icon.
  • Finally drag that folder to the taskbar and you will get a message like Pin to taskbar.

That’s it, you are done. From now you can access your favorite files and folders from the Windows Taskbar itself which is more convenient.
