How to get back to Windows Phone 8.1 from Windows 10 Technical Preview

Microsoft has recently released Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10051 which currently supported on more than 30 Lumia Phone models. First build of Windows 10 update supported only fewpopular  Lumia devices such as Lumia 635. But then the number of Lumia devices supporting Windows 10 has gradually increased and this is good news for the Windows Phone enthusiasts who are waiting to experience the latest Windows Phone OS. Microsoft has openly stated in the Windows Insider program that, installing the Windows 10 Technical Preview may severely hamper the performance of the device on different aspects of usability.

How to recover your phone


  • First download Windows Phone Recovery Tool, which is of 2.2 MB size.
  • After installing Windows Phone Recovery Tool application, launch it and connect your Windows Phone to the PC using USB cable. If the connected device is not detected automatically, then disconnect and reconnect it again and tap on My Phone was not connected button present at the bottom of the screen to follow onscreen instructions.
  • Once your device is successfully detected, select the phone model on the screen and continue further.
  • In the next screen you will see different versions of software available for download, select the preferred one and tap on re-install button present at bottom.
  • In the next screen you will get a disclaimer which suggests you to backup your phone and tap on continue to proceed.
  • Now the recovery tool will start download and installs the selected firmware which you have already selected and it requires 1.7 GB free space. When the files are downloading make sure that you haven’t disconnected the phone from your PC.
  • The installation will complete successfully with a prompt Operation successfully completed.

That’s it, now Windows 8.1 has been successfully installed on your Phone.
