How to export iPhone contacts to CSV on Windows 8

Generally everyone will be having thousands of contacts on their mobile phone and it is best to have backup of all those things. Here let us see how to create the backup of your contacts in a CSV file on your Windows 8 PC. Using iTunes on your Windows 8 PC you can export the contacts in two ways Outlook and Windows contacts. Before proceeding to the tutorial you need to have iTunes installed on your PC, otherwise download it from here.

How to export iPhone contacts to CSV on Windows 8

  • First connect your iPhone to PC using USB cable and iTunes will launch automatically. If it doesn’t launch automatically then run it manually.


  • Now click on the iPhone icon then click on Backup now button.


  • After backing up your contacts, disconnect your iPhone and then navigate to Settings, iCloud and toggle off the Contacts button if your contacts are being synced Over The Air.
  • Now in the left pane, click on Info tab and check Sync contacts box.


  • From the Sync contacts with dropdown choose Windows contacts and click on Apply button for the changes to take effect.


  • Now press Win+R keys on your keyboard to launch RUN dialog box and then type wab and click on OK.
  • Now you will see a new window with files and folders and here click on double arrows to display additional commands.
  • Click on Export option.
  • This will open a new window which will display the format type. Now select the CSV format and click on Export.
  • Then another window will open showing the locations where you want to save the file. Browse through the files and folders and select a location where you want to save the CSV file and click on Next button.
  • Check the relevant fields which you want to export and click on Finish.


  • When you get the below dialog box then the export is successful. Click on OK and go the folder where you have saved the CSV file. You can open this CSV using Microsoft Excel program.
