How to disable start screen animation in Windows 8

If you are running Windows 8 on your PC they you might have noticed the animation where tile slide and appear from right to left when switch to the start screen from Windows desktop. This newly added animation gives beautiful and classy look, but some users doesn’t like this because this will take some time to load and need to change its behavior. If you don’t link the animations and want to display tiles, menus and other things instantly, then this article will definitely help you.

 How to disable start screen animation in Windows 8

  • Press Win+X keys to open Power menu and here click on Control Panel.
  • In the control panel window, find the system option and click on it.
  • In the next window, click on System protection option in the left side.


  • This will open system properties window and here click on advanced tab, here click on settings button under performance section.
  • This will open performance options window and here uncheck the option Animate controls and elements inside Windows.
  • Finally click on Apply and exit from the window.

That’s it this will disable the start screen animation in Windows 8 and 8.1 operating system. Now switch to the start screen from the Windows 8 desktop and can see how fast the tiles and menus will be displayed. This speeds up your system, but the animations introduced were disabled.
