How to create blank folder names in Windows 8

When we try to create any folder with blank name on your Windows computer, it doesn’t accept. But there is a trick to do it and here in this tutorial, we are going to show you how to create the folders with blank names in Windows 8.

This trick allow you to display the folder with out a name but it requites your PC keyboard to have a numeric keyboard, which is the section of the keyboard on the right side which contains 17 keys containing 0 to 9, +, -, *, /.. num lock and enter keys.

  • Right click on the blank space on the Windows 8 desktop and from the option select New > folder. A new folder will be created on the desktop.
  • If right click on that folder, select rename and enter spaces only, then Windows will not accept it.
  • To display the blank name, right-click on the folder and select Rename and press Alt key and press 0160 on the numeric keypad.
  • Now press Enter key and click on anywhere on desktop.

That’s it, a folder with the blank name will be created and change its icon and you will see a smart looking folder on the desktop. You can even give the invisible icon for the folder and the icon is located here %SystemRoot%system32SHELL32.dll, This is how you can hide the folder completely on the desktop.
