Cisco AnyConnect app for Windows Phone now available in store
For the first time Microsoft has introduced support for VPN apps in the Windows Phone 8.1 update. Though the VPN support is introduced, we have been waiting for the biggest and most popular to bring the support. The good news is that world’s popular technology giant Cisco has introduced its AnyConnect VPN service to the Windows Phone 8.1 but currently it is in beta form.
As the app is currently is in beta support is not provided by the Cisco TAC during the program. To support this app you need your Windows Phone to be running on Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 or higher versions. Cisco hasn’t verified that whether Windows 10 Mobile is compatible with the beta version or not. Beta version doesn’t include the functioning VPN Settings screen, so VPN should be set up through MDM.
This app comes with the long list of provisos, but of course it supports Windows Phone 8.1 update 1. There is no information about whether it works on Windows 10 or not, we expect that it may work on Windows 10 also. The beta version currently supports only TLS connections including TLS 1.2 connections, but currently it doesn’t support DTLS & IPsec IKEv2 connections.
